Bachelor of Science in Applied Technology
The Bachelor of Science in Applied Technology is designed to serve those who wish to continue their education and earn a bachelor's degree. This program is ideally suited for the individual who has received credit in a technical area from a community college.
Transfer Up to 94 Community College Credits
Of the 124 credit hours required for the bachelor’s in applied technology, up to 94 may be transferred from a community college that has an articulation agreement. Currently, the following community colleges have, or are in the process of completing, an articulation agreement with EMU’s applied technology program:
- Henry Ford
- Macomb
- Monroe
- Mott
- North Central Michigan
- Oakland
- Owens
- Schoolcraft
- St. Claire College (Canada)
- Washtenaw
- Wayne
Career Opportunities
Typical candidates are employed in industry, seek to broaden their educational background, expand their knowledge and skills, and need a bachelor's degree for enhanced employment opportunities. This goal can be achieved by completing select courses in engineering technology, general education requirements and specific classes in science and mathematics.
Number of Credits
In conjunction with the community college articulation agreement, EMU is offering the remainder of the courses required to complete the applied technology program at various locations. This is typically 30 credit hours of course work. EMU courses offered at local sites are designed to complement the local community college technical programming and meet employer need in the community served.

- CHEM 117 Fundamentals of Chemistry-Lecture (3)
- CHEM 118 Fundamentals of Chemistry Laboratory (1)
- MATH 105 College Algebra (3)
- MATH 107 Plane Trigonometry (2)
- PHY 221 Mechanics, Sound and Heat (4)
- PHY 222 Electricity and Light (4)
- SET 350 Engineering Communication (3)
Restricted Elective Courses: 6 hours
- Select six hours of restricted electives at the 100–499 level in consultation with an advisor.
Restricted MFG Elective Courses: 15 hours
- Select 15 hours of restricted electives at the 300- and 400-level in consultation with an advisor.
Technical Courses: 34 hours
- Up to 34 hours of transferred technical courses may be applied to this major.
Electives Courses: 9 hours
Program Total: Students must earn a minimum total of 124 credits at the 100-level or above. Any grades less than a "C" or courses below the 100 level will not transfer to EMU.
